Voting system

Letters

I ADMIRE the many proposed creative and constructive ideas discussed by Prime Minister James Marape on carrying PNG to the next level in terms of Infrastructures developments and create platforms for business ventures to some provinces like the Manus Island.
The recent plan regarding the Improvement of electoral processes is one of the main aspect that the government should seriously take heed of, and act accordingly by liaise with the Electoral Commissioner Patilias Gamato and his management team to come up with better ways of voting system.
We had seen or heard people lives and properties had been destroyed, massive destructions occurred, tribal fighting that has been on going as of today as a result of the current voting processes.
I urge the National Government to seriously make funds available to the NID office to make it accessible for officers to reach out to remote areas of PNG to registering the populations that are yet to be registered as a PNG citizen.
Also, the government should get consultation with the Nicta office in regard of electronically ways of voting.
I believe it will cost the National Government huge sum of money to implement electronically voting system but at the same time it will prevent individual citizens to actually waiting in queue to cast their votes.
It will also keep their candidates of interest 100 per cent confidential because no one will know who that voter votes for.
When that happen people will live in peace and that will prevent properties and lives which lead to safer communities and safer nation as a whole.
