Wabo joins Kumuls ahead of Scotland game

 KUMULS hooker Charlie Wabo arrives today in London ahead of Papua New Guinea’s warm-up match against Scotland.

Coach Adrian Lam said from Hull yesterday that he would consider picking the Port Moresby Vipers rake in spite of the of the long trip and short turn around.

Wabo did not travel with the Kumuls contingent on Monday because of the death of his mother last Friday.

It was unclear whether Wabo would join the team before the weekend however Lam said he was thankful he would have one his most experienced players for the crucial hit out at Big Fellas Stadium in Hull

Wabo flew out yesterday with Kumuls assistant coach Nigel Hukula both are expected in Hull in the afternoon less than 24 hours after leaving Port Moresby.

“We’re happy Charlie will be joining us before the Scotland match. All players in the squad will player but we’ll see how it goes over the next day and half,” Lam said.

Meanwhile, Lam said he had not picked his side for the warm-up fixture but confirmed that all 23 squad members would play.

“We’ve got a few players carrying minor complaints and i’m giving them all the time to get fit for the game against Scotland,” he said.

On Scotland Lam said he knew they had several NRL players in their ranks but preferred to focus on the kumuls than worry about the opposition.

“They’ve got a decent side with NRL talent so they will be a challenge but we’re not going to dwell on them. We’re just going get on with our preparations and hopefully that will see us through.”

Lam said the halves would be filled by Roger Laka, Ase boas and Ray Thompson while Israel Eliab and Jesse joe Nandye would play in the centres and backrow respectively.
