NATIONAL Capital District and Central commander Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Anthony Wagambie Jr has commended police for a job well done during the Christmas and New Year police operations in both provinces.
ACP Wagambie said the operations were executed well within the provinces and he commended Met Supt Gideon Ikumu and his team for a well-coordinated security operation within the nation’s capital.
“Leading up to midnight on Friday, police had been attending to a lot of alcohol-related incidents, drunk and disorderly was widespread within NCD and some parts of Central,” he said.
“Central reported mainly drunken youths coming onto the highway.”
“Within National Capital District and along the highways in Central, we had a lot of bottles broken along the road.
“Central police were deployed to all highways and also into districts accessible by road.”
ACP Wagambie said the attendance by police to incidents was done quickly and deterred escalation of tensions within communities.
