FORMER Western Highlands deputy premier and Waghi community leader Yuants Kaman has called on Anglimp-South Waghi MP and Health Minister Jamie Maxtone-Graham to verify over K1.5 million paid out allegedly last week on unidentified
projects.
Kaman when reacting to a public notice at the Minj district office notice board containing bank statement, cheque numbers, names of recipients, and other details, this week, said the MP had to explain what project these funds were used for.
Kaman alleged that public funds have been personally used by district administrator Kimin Gokumi, joint district planning and budget priorities committee (JDP&BPC) deputy chairman Kama Alake and his wife, the district treasurer and other staff.
He said it has been an ongoing for the last 7 years and alleged that the district is riddle with
corruption.
“I call on the MP to come home and verify these payouts. We have nothing on the ground to show for it for the last seven years and its good if the MP tells the people what happened to all funds intended for projects in the district,” Kaman told The National this week in Minj.
