Wake up from your slumber

Letters

I WRITE in regard to an article by Jimmy Kalebe published in The National on Monday (Jan 6).
I’m surprised that the Lord Mayor of Lae City James Khay has woken up from his slumber to comment on the major Aussie Aid funded Angau rehabilitation Project.
Did the Morobe or the City Authority contribute to the Angau Project?
Where is Lae City Authority’s contribution to the Angau project apart from the building permits his officers in the Building Board approved?
This is a bilateral gift from the Australian Government and approved by the PNG Government.
Prime Minister James Marape has visited the project site for the opening of the Angau Chapel and the project was recently visited by Australia High Commissioner and the Health Minister.
Where was the Mayor?
He forgot the termite ridden old World War II hospital that was rotting away.
Mayor, if the Lae City Authority has the contacts, sources, funds; why not fund, design and build a 10-storey building and make Lae the best hospital in PNG.
Beggars don’t have a choice to ask for something they can’t afford.
Basic services provided by the city goes begging.
The Lae main market is very unhygienic.
The authority should go clean the market, all retail sellers and filth.

Bomoteng,
LAE
