Teachers suffering from leave fare issues

Letters

TEACHERS’ entitlement are compensations for their service to the Teaching Services Commission of Papua New Guinea.
Leave fares, disadvantages allowances, housing allowances and multi-grade are rightful entitlements paid to the teachers by the Education Department.
It is not free but teachers should meet the requirements of the department.
Teachers are told to apply for and claim these entitlements annually.
There are complains and concerns raised by some hard teachers who are due for their entitlements.
These teachers have applied for their entitlements but because of the slow processing they (teachers) were upset and tired.
Who are the right people they’re going to blame?
Teaching Services Commission or the officers in each of the provinces?
Teaching Services Commission has done their part. Yes, but the provincial headquarters are not doing their part.
One of the provinces in Papua New Guinea is Northern.
Last year till now, this province never paid the entitlements.
What is really happening?
Many local teachers from Northern have collected their leave fares on first batch.
The teachers from other provinces are still waiting.
Teachers are hardworking people and we should treat them well.
Please do the right thing, motivate teachers to go into remote areas and serve the unfortunate kids.
Do not delay their leave fare entitlements.
Please help them go early and say hey and hello to their families in their respective provinces.

  • Education division needs an over-haul, yes a REAL OVERHAUL of the whole processes that deal with teachers issues from pay to fares and other entitlements….They are given the biggest batch from the budget and surely, surely someone with imagination can set up something to alleviate these CHRONIC problematic issues.
