Start year with transparency

Letters

PAPUA New Guinea should start the 2020 academic year with honesty, transparency and accountability to manage schools funds for the benefit of our children.
Funds should be used for their intended purposes to cater for the children’s education needs.
The following are indicators of the mismanagement of TFF in 2019 as observed;

  • NOT providing acquittals;
  • NOT providing financial reports every term during P&C (Parents and Citizens) meeting;
  • NO P&C meetings to avoid parents queries;
  • OPERATING with no school budget or with unrealistic budgets;
  • NOT fully providing educational needs of the teachers and students despite TFF coming in quarterly payments; and,
  • GETTING loans and repaying with huge interests leaving little or nothing to run the school.

These are obvious and is killing the interest of dedicated teachers who want to progress the education system in the country.
The NCD Education Service needs to put managers who are visionary and capable of running schools instead of people they can collaborate with to benefit from the school funds.
This year, parents will be paying school fees and will want to see the full use of the money being paid.
The ball in now in your court.

25-years NCD teacher
