Walium teams win at Usino-Bundi games

THE Lae Industrial Parts (LIP) Usino-Bundi Games ended on a high note last week with Walium teams winning most of the prizes.
The colourful four-day event from Dec 9-13 was given K65,000 from major sponsor LIP which included trophies, the hiring of technical officials and prize money.
Teams and spectators came from as far as Ramu, Aiom and Bogia districts to attended the event.
In the men’s soccer competition Walium One   won first prize (K1,000) follwed by Siko FC (K500), Walium Two (K350) and Parats (K200) while in the women’s competition Ramu  (K500) proved superior bagging first place followed by Walium One (K350), Puara (K200) and Walium Two (K150).
Similar prize monies were awarded to the men and women’s champion basketball teams with Sausi declared men’s champions followed by Parats, Brahman and Walium while Walium One took out major honours in the women’s division with Parats, Walium Two and Brahman.
Parats won the volleyball with Waluim One and Two settling for second and third respectively.
In the women’s volleyball Walium Two came out on top with a better all-round game Sepu, Walium One and Gisom.
In other Madang sports news the Governor’s Kalibobo Annual Sports Championship was given a significant boost with   Sir Arnold Amet giving K200,000 to  help stage the event next year.
Teams from all districts in the province are expected to participate with a team for the PNG Games in Kokopo, East New Britain, next year selected from these championships.
