SIMANIBU Waram, 24, is the first Papua New Guinea to make it into the Heinneken Asia Pacific, Graduate programme.
According to SP Brewery, the programme helps young people fresh out of a tertiary institution to start their career.
It is designed for persons interested in a long term career with Heineken Asia Pacific, of which, SP Brewery is a part of.
Waram recently completed an 18-month training with SP Brewery’s graduate development programme.
His application was approved last October.
In January, he travelled to Singapore for an interview.
Lucina Tadabe, SPB training and development manager, said: “The APGP regional assessment centre interviews are very tense,” he said.
“The panel comprises managers from the different brewery functions across Asia Pacific.”
Waram said the interview was challenging and competitive.
“The pool of people that came from across Asia was amazing,” he said.
“I got to meet intelligent young people, and had a brief opportunity to engage with them through team work, during the interview process.”
Waram said he was glad to be selected.
“I set myself a goal to get into the programme when I first found out about it when I joined SP Brewery,” he said.
“I am definitely excited and looking forward to the next two years of my career.”
He urged people to bring out the best in themselves.
