Warning for teachers in Jiwaka

Highlands

JIWAKA has too many primary school teachers this year and that is putting pressure on those who have been given a posting to either perform or lose their job.
Provincial education adviser Erwin Us said teachers who have recently graduated have
filled 30 places in primary schools and 25 in secondary and high schools.
“We have more primary school teachers and we expect them to be competent. If they fail to perform, then they should know that there are other qualified teachers out there who are ready,” Us said.
He said there are 94 primary schools, nine high schools, five secondary schools, and 230 elementary schools in Jiwaka with over 1700 teachers, excluding the church-run and private schools.
He has warned teachers that there is no place for complacency.
