THE Lae Committal Court issued warrants of arrest for three soldiers, charged with attempted murder, for jumping bail on Wednesday.
Magistrate Pious Tapil issued the warrants of arrest as the PNG Defence Force (PNGDF) soldiers failed to show up in court twice in a week.
Magistrate Tapil issued the warrants of arrest after the police prosecutor made a verbal application for the warrants.
The trio all hold private ranks in PNGDF’s Engineering Battalion in Igam Barracks.
Pennie Tigila, 34, from Rabaul, East New Britain; McDonald Bents, 32, from Minj, Jiwaka; and Edmond Bungewa, 24, from Ijivitari, Northern (Oro) face charges of attempted murder.
They were alleged to have committed the offence while on duty in Western Highlands in March 2019.
Magistrate Tapil adjourned hearing to April 30.
