Warriors, Sharks keep hopes alive

NORTHERN Warriors and Gateway Sharks won their matches to progress in the Motor Vehicles Insurance Limited Morata Offseason Rugby League A-grade finals.
Warriors beat M3 Bulldogs 14-10 and Sharks stunned Mautana Roosters 10- 6 in the elimination finals at the Kone Tigers Oval on Sunday.
In the Under-20s, Kongo Rats beat Community Hall Tigers 12-8 and Sharks defeated Bulldogs 4-0.
League chairman Samson Metofo praised all the teams for maintaining discipline and accepting the outcome of the match.
He said it showed that teams and players were starting to take ownership of the league.
Warriors face Sharks and Talapia Magpies will meet Mumuts in the preliminary finals with the winners advancing to the grand final next Sunday.
In the U20s, Talapia Magpies face Gateway Sharks and Mautana Roosters meet Kongo Rats.
League executive John Mawe tipped the preliminary finals to be evenly contested.
Mawe said Warriors and Magpies had enough firepower to secure the grand final spots but that would depend on how well they absorb the pressure from Mumuts and Sharks.
He said police presence at the venue was to prevent supporters from causing trouble.
