THE Wau Vocational Centre in Morobe, which has been closed for almost a decade, will be revived.

Morobe provincial technical and vocational education training (TVET) standard officer, John Moses, said there was a plan to relocated the centre to Garaina, but because the area was inaccessible by road, they would have to look at an alternative location.

“We will revive (and relocate) the vocational centre to a place that is accessible by road. But we haven’t decided on where to relocate the school.  We might revive it in Wau,” Moses said.

He said Wau and another vocational centre on Siassi Island in Tewai-Siassi district would also be reopened.

He said Wau vocational centre had not been operating  since 2007, but the teachers’ positions were active and they were still on the payroll.

It is understood the Morobe education division is planning to send a team to find out why for the two vocational centres were closed.

Meanwhile, St Joseph Technical School in Lae is undergoing maintenance for transition into a technical college.
