We can get through this

Letters

IT saddens me to see many people making negative statements about PNG during Independence celebrations.
Of course there are many challenges that we have faced and went through as a nation.
Some things are beyond our control like inflation which is a global issue (I stand to be corrected).
The Independence day gives us a reminder that we were once ruled and represented by other people.
But now we are counted as a nation of our own.
A sovereign state.
Our forefathers have laid the foundation and took the first step to get us the political independence. We are indeed free from the oppression by our colonisers.
Our founding father and hero the late Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare has passed on the baton and challenges us to take the next step forward to economic independence.
It’s no coincidence that PM James Marape is echoing economic independence.
Let’s join together and get economic independence for our country.
Do your bit in your own way to promote economic independence while the Government will do its bit.
As patriotic Papua New Guineans, let’s ask ourselves what we can do for our country (John F Kennedy).
Everything doesn’t evolve around politics. (Ben Micah).
Thus let’s do our bit whether in sports, business, religion, education, etc. Let’s strive for a better PNG and place our country in the world map.
Let’s be proactive always when it comes to issues affecting our country.
God bless Papua New Guinea!
