Well done PAC

Letters

FOR the first time in PNG history since Independence, we have seen the full function of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) exposing high level of corruption in the Health department.
I commend the tremendous job done by the PAC under the leadership of chairman Sir John Pundari and the deputy chairman Gary Juffa.
The inquiry is still ongoing but we are so happy to hear the revelation of the hidden corruption that has been going on with the Health Department, particularly the abuse and system corruption on the medical procurement process.
We have seen shortage of drugs, default drugs being issued and many more problems faced by our clinics all over the country.
This was confirmed with Kaugere Urban Clinic Management in their testimony at the inquiry as per the news article in the two daily yesterday (Dec 3).
If an urban clinic such as Kaugere has been in shortage of medical supplies for 10 months then, I can only imagine how the local rural clinics can survive without adequate medical suppliers all these time.
The inquiry will continue into next year and I am calling on behalf of the silent majority of PNG for PAC to complete their work by referring the culprits to relevant authorities so they can be penalised for their sins.
Having said that, exposure in corruption in the Health Department is just one of the many corrupt government office that has been brought to light.
Use this as precedent to expose the other corrupt government departments we have in PNG.
