SP HUNTERS back Adex Wera will play his final home match at the Oil Search National Football Stadium on Sunday after confirming his retirement at season’s end.
Wera’s last home game should provide the spark for the Hunters in their Queensland Intrust Super Cup (ISC) round-22 clash against the Redcliffe Dolphins, with both sides playing for the Stan Joyce Cup in honour of the outgoing SP Brewery boss.
The 29-year-old centre will play his 111 ISC match after six years of service as a foundation Hunter.
Joining Wera in the starting side is Gurias pair Terry Wapi and Ila Alu who return to the Hunters after bowing out of the Digicel Cup with the Rabaul Gurias last weekend.
“Wapi and Alu had pulled through okay so we brought them back into the team,” he said.
Nami has stressed a positive outlook for the team with only two matches left.
“The thing we started on this week is being positive and not just this week but the remaining weeks,” he said. “We’ve talked about being positive and finishing on a high note to play for our friends and families who have been turning up to watch us every weekend.
“We want to finish strong and we don’t want to give this game away easily. We hope to do everything right and get a good result.”
