POLICE have arrested a man wanted in the failed Tang Mow Ltd robbery and the wounding of its owner, Michael Tang, in Wewak, East Sepik, last year.
Wewak police picked him up in Port Moresby at the weekend.
ESP police commander Vincent Pokas said two of his officers apprehended the suspect at Gerehu Stage-6 on Saturday morning and escorted him on a commercial flight to Wewak.
Two of his accomplices were picked up by police in Wewak afterwards.
A fourth suspect, whose identity is known to police, is on the run.
Pokas said the four suspects went into the shop on a Saturday last year, spent the night inside and held up the victim the next morning when he entered the shop.
The men demanded keys to the safe. When Tang refused he was slashed with a knife.
The four men escaped with a limited amount of cash and valuables before help came to rescue Tang and take him to the Wewak General Hospital.
He was referred to Port Moresby General Hospital the next day but due to the seriousness of the injuries sustained, Tang left for Australia where he is receiving medical treatment.
Pokas said the suspect who was picked up in Port Moresby was from East Sepik but left after committing the offence to evade arrest.
He said the man was being questioned and would be arrested and charged with either grievous bodily harm or attempted murder today.
Meanwhile, a man was stabbed on Saturday by youths for allegedly practising sorcery at Kairiru Island.
Pokas said the victim was rushed to the health centre.
The suspects are known by auxiliary members on the island and the police boat is expected pick them up this week.
