What has changed, Eastern Highlands?

Letters

EASTERN Highlands is said to be the most peaceful place to live compared to other Highlands provinces.
With people greeting you with a smile and a hug, you tend to feel safe around everyone.
You walk freely on the streets without looking behind you, you say hello to strangers without having a bad feeling that something might happen, and you receive free betel nuts from betel nut sellers along the road if you are a chewer.
However, Goroka town is no longer seen as safe and peaceful because of robberies, holdups, pickpocketing, stabbing and killing happening there in broad daylight.
Why is this happening in this beautiful, safe and peaceful Highlands province?
Eastern Highlanders are friendly, so why are we seeing these indescribable actions that is giving the province a bad name?
Can the provincial government take this issue seriously and bring in laws that can make things better? We cannot walk with fear, worrying that death is close by.
This is serious and it needs to stop. We have to let people, especially tourists, know that Eastern Highlands is still the safest and most peaceful province in Papua New Guinea.
