What is worth celebrating?

Letters

ON the occasion of the 100 years Gospel reaching the Komba and Kabwum valley at the foot of Sarawaged and Cromwell ranges, mourning and grim greeted the PNG national leaders including Prime Minister James Marape and Governor-General Sir Bob Dadae.
What a contrasting difference to have 16 plus lives destined also for the 100 years celebration in Indagen who did not make it.
What is worth celebrating, when we have the dead on our hands?
What message can we the people of Komba and Kabwum and our leaders take out from this great occasion!
The cries of our people of walking, toiling, struggling and losing their lives is evident after 100 years!
Cost of transportation is killing economically and morale.
Newspapers also ran an article on water supply project to Indagen, costing K96,000 just to airlift materials from the road after Kabwum Station to Indagen!
K15,000 for shipping the materials from Lae to Wasu.
This 100 years celebration is timely call for the FISIKA area and its leaders to reflect on the loss of lives and what and how we have advanced with the arrival of the Gospel in the Huon Peninsular area. Really a mixed emotions and felling empty, especially for the loss.
How can we explain to the families and who do we blame for the loss of lives, such a tragedy of lives lost possibly in eternity without hope at all even after 100 years of light displacing the dark.
