What we need in a provincial admin

Letters

On May 24 there was a report in the newspaper about the position of provincial administrator for Western by the Minister for Public Service Elias Kapavore.
Much of what had been said were only hearsay.
The appointment of provincial administrators is the prerogative of the National Executive Council and should be given to recognised senior public servants who have:

  • Had a good performance record for the past 20 years, either in the government or private sector;
  • been reappointed by NEC in consultation with DPM consecutively in the past 10 years based on key performance indicator’s; and
  • Devised or drawn up successful policies in their contracted term in the areas of infrastructure and the economy.

Western does not need people who are near their retirement age.
Past administrators have nothing new to contribute and should therefore not be allowed to apply again.
Hopefully the new administrator for Western will be someone who has integrity, honesty and a credible track record.
