THE National Women’s Conference will be staged in Western Highlands by the PNG Christian Fellowship to discuss issues affecting the growth and development of women in PNG.
Pr Michael Jack of the Christian Fellowship in Port Moresby told The National that the conference was an annual event which would be held at Muglamp district, Dei electorate, from April 15 to 20.
It is being organised by national women’s president Ruth Ruimb and committee members.
He said the conference aimed to equip and advocate women on their potential based on topics under an overall theme: The power of a woman.
“The conference will discover the purpose and essence of women’s creation, define the potential of women and how they can effectively participate in the development of PNG, discuss issues regarding violence against women, and should women be involved in politics and polygamy.
“According to the scripture it is because of lack of knowledge that countries around the world are fighting with life issues.
“From practical biblical teachings, I have seen positive impacts on the lives of some mothers.
“Mothers have started small businesses, enrolled in institutions to do further studies, helped husbands rekindle the passion and vision for life and most importantly family restoration and reunion.
“These are results from just a few women, this time I urge all women from all walks of life to attend the conference.
“The registration fee is K50 per head, K20 for pastors’ wives and church members.”
