Wigmen duo make final cut

HELA Wigmen centre Stanford Talita and forward Emmanuel Waine have made the SP Hunters’ final 30-man squad for the upcoming Queensland Intrust Super Cup season.
But their Digicel Cup teammate Gilmo Paul did not make the cut, along with Jerry Teme, Woods Kawage, Tom Moide, Israel Steven, Solomon Pukari, Allan Simbiri, Messac Wallen, Stanley Olo, Benji Kot and Saki Pater.
The new faces are Kimbe Cutters’ Steven Bruno, Rabaul Gurias’ Francis Takai and Lae Tigers’ Casey Dickson.

Dilbert Isaac, who is still nursing an injury, will undergo further medical tests to prove his fitness.
Hunters head coach Mathew Church said he had spoken to those who were released to keep working hard as it was not the end of their Hunters aspirations.
He said the four test players – Stanton Albert, Terry Wapi, Enock Maki and Talita — would join the squad when at the resumption of training on Monday.
The Hunters have two trial matches scheduled for next month. The first is against the Central Queensland Capras in Port Moresby on Feb 22. It will be followed by the NRL trial between the Cronulla Sharks and Canterbury Bulldogs.
The second Hunters trial will be against the Northern Pride in Cairns the following week on Feb 29.
The Hunters face the South Logan Magpies in Brisbane in their season opener on March 15.

  • Why would the Hunters selectors some very potential players from the Lahanis team who have been very consistent all through the Digicel competition last year and year before. Alma Woro is such a vecetile that needs to be considered for selection in the Hunters train on squard for the 2020 QRL competition.
