Will PMC serve the poor people?

Letters, Normal

I would like to air my views on the proposed building of the “world-class” Pacific Medical Centre.
I would like to ask the health minister which group of people he has in mind when he came up with the idea.
Was he thinking about the simple village folks, the unemployed, the low income earners?
I am sick and tired of these foolish ideas from our government.
Why waste money on the medical centre when the funds can be used to renovate hospitals, aid posts, health centres or buy drugs, medical equipment, etc?
We should make use what we currently have.
The money can be also used to hire consultants to come here and help the people instead of just one person spending a lot of money to go overseas to see a specialist.
How can you run something like PMC when you cannot even maintain a town clinic or aid post?
To all those who supported it because you think you would not have to go overseas for treatment, you better think again.
I dare say it will not only cost a lot of money to seek treatment at the PMC, you will still have to go overseas for further treatment because of the limited services on offer.
I doubt we will have the specialists to treat the more serious and complicated cases.
