2013 SOUTH Pacific Export Lager PNG Open women’s amateur champion Sophia Cragnolini says the win should prepare her well for her next two major golf tournaments.

Cragnolini said the first one would be the World Junior Golf tournament next month in Jakarta, Indonesia, and in December, she will represent the country at the Greg Norman Open in the United States of Amnerica.

The 17-year old part Italian and Chinese said after her win on Sunday, she was excited about the two challenges.

“I can confirm that I will take part in the World Junior Championships next month in Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta,” she said.

The Year 12 student at the Hill International Golf Academy in Brisbane, Australia, described her back-to-back win as a good feeling for her and those who support her golfing career.

Hill international college is at Jimbooba, Brisbane, and specialises in providing study and golf for students from all over the world.

Sophia has been there for the past five years and this will be her last year there.

Winning by 18 shots, Sophia thanked the sponsors and her family and friends for their amazing support.

“My school years at Hill Golf Academy have helped me a lot to become a good golfer while doing my studies as well – for all the reasons to defend the title,” the soft-spoken PNG Open women amateur winner said.

The young Cragnolini said she was looking forward to the two trips and the 2013 PNG Open tournament has given me challenge to face the world.

Sophia will soon decide whether she will pursue a professional golf career, but if last weekend is anything to go by, that should not be too hard a decision.

She won the PNG Open Ladies on 323 gross while Kristine Seko finished second 341.

with Rosalind Taufa on 341 gross.
