WESTERN Highlands Governor Paias Wingti says the best teachers will be recruited to teach English in the province.
“After September, we will advertise the teaching positions to attract the best,” he said.
“English is a key subject.
“When students are proficient in English, they will also do well in other subjects.”
“We will ensure that there is quality teaching, so teachers will be rewarded with incentives.”
Wingti spoke at the opening of the Kondopina High School on Tuesday.
The school’s facilities include staff houses, an administration block, e-library and distribution of Lucas sawmill.
The opening also coincided with the launching of the Eastern 5 Community Development Association.
Wingti renamed the school as Paul Koi Memorial Kondopina Secondary School in honour of the late Paul Koi, the custodian of the land in which the school is located.
He assured the school that infrastructure facilities would be built.
