Ballot boxes for Southern Highlands regional seat being stored in containers near the Mendi police station. Incumbent Southern Highlands Governor William Powi has petitioned the Electoral Commission (EC) relating to failures and negligence by EC Mendi office. Powi said the Mendi EC office should immediately consult all churches in Mendi to nominate 10 or 20 neutral people to continue the count.
