A street vendor braves busy traffic to sell soft drinks at Waigani, in Port Moresby. A recent awareness campaign in the city tried to keep the city clean and cut down on criminal and street-vending activities. According to the senior sergeant for media and team leader for Apec Joint Security Task Force, Tumbe Sam, the campaign was not because the country was hosting Apec but because it wanted to make the city clean and safe for everyone. It doesn’t seem to be working.
