WEST New Britain will be remembered for being a small centre that managed to host the PNG Games despite the challenges, says PNG Games Council chairman Peter Tsiamalili Jr.
“As the chairman of the PNG Games Council, I represent all 22 provinces but only 16 provinces were able to make it to the Games through their efforts and commitment and I thank them,” Tsiamalili said.
“This PNG Games was a memorable one and will be remembered because of the level of development it brought to the province.
“In this edition of the PNG Games we have seen some provinces who do not have proper sporting infrastructure come here and beat provinces that have good sporting infrastructure.
“The PNG Games Council is happy that the purpose of the Games has been delivered and we are going through tough economic times but we are still making it happen.”
Tsiamalili said the council was also looking to ensure infrastructure development was a part of hosting the Games.
“We are looking forward to supporting the provinces in the future who take on the responsibility.”
Tsiamalili commended the political leaders of the country for showing their supporting toward sports which contributes to general development.
Tsiamalili also acknowledged West New Britain for the hospitality in taking care of the 16 provinces during the duration of the games.
