A 48-YEAR-OLD woman accused of illegally using her employers name to obtain a loan appeared in court yesterday.
Mary Vanua from Lese village, Malalau Oalai, Gulf, appeared in court charged with false pretence.
Police allege that she used the name of Papua New Guinea Bible Society (PNGBS) to get a total amount of K110, 000 from Rodney Pupu on the basis that PNGBS would repay him with 30 per cent interest.
Police say that this agreement was done without the knowledge of PNGBS.
PNGBS terminated Vanua on Feb last year.
Police allege that when Pupu realised he was not loaning the money to PNGBS but to Vanua, he raised a complaint on mid Aug last year to the Boroko Police Station. This led to her arrest.
The matter was adjourned to Oct 29 for mention.
