A WOMAN has admitted that she stole more than K5000 from her employer.
Audrey Daruata, who had worked as an accounts administration assistant with City Pharmacy Limited in Port Moresby, would be sentenced on Oct 3. Daruata, from Wamira village in Rabaraba, Milne Bay, misappropriated K5858.85 between October and December last year.
The court was told that according to a recorded interview and a written confession, Daruata had admitted she stole various amounts on different occasions.
Deputy Chief Justice Sir Gibbs Salika found Daruata guilty and told her to discus with her lawyer and make a submission to the court on what kind of punishment the court should give her.
Justice Sir Gibbs also asked her if she wanted to repay the money to the company.
He advised her to talk to the probation officers on how she wanted to repay the amount. The case returns on October 3 for sentencing.
Daruata was in charge of the company’s banking when she committed the offence last year in Port Moresby.
