A 33-YEAR-OLD woman was charged with stealing almost K36,000 from her employer and released on a K1,000 police bail in Wewak last week.
East Sepik police commander Supt Albert Beli said the woman was the branch manager in Maprik at the time.
Beli said the case of stealing, between Oct 7 and 11, was reported to police by the organisation’s provincial operations manager.
It was alleged that the woman stole K35,973.58 while taking care of the office.
“While doing stocktaking on bags of dried cocoa, he (operations manager) also found out that 30 bags, valued at K15,150, were missing.”
Police investigated and arrested the woman on Dec 2.
