Provincial Police commander chief inspector David Yapu said the couple had an argument at Lowa village.
“The wife then poured hot water at his back and caused severe burn wounds last Saturday at about 9.30pm,” he said.
“She also chased her husband, who is from South Fly in Western, out from the house and he seek refuge at a friend’s house for the night.
“The next day he got onto a boat and travelled to seek medical treatment at Lorengau General Hospital.
“The victim then reported the matter to Police at Family Sexual Violence office at Lorengau Police Station.
“Police requested the wife to report to Police Station but since then she has ignored Police request and had gone into hiding”.
Yapu is appealing to the wife to voluntarily surrender to Police and give her side of the story, otherwise the Police will go out and look for her.
“The law has its long hand. After all the law on family Protection Act, protects both the husband and wife from any form of domestic violence and includes assault or physical injuries,” he said.
“But the wife had gone beyond and caused severe physical injures to the husband and will be dealt under the Criminal Code Act for causing Grievous Bodily Harm.”
