Parents in East New Britain have been praised for prioritising the education of their children.

Businesswoman and Tropicana Limited managing director Sandra Lau commended the parents while addressing 370 graduating students at Malaguna Technical Secondary School last Wednesday.

She encouraged young people to be entrepreneurs.

“However, you will need to align your priorities and study hard,” she said. “I am proud of many parents in this province for realising the importance of education.

“Continue to do your best in giving your children a better education.

“Without education, we will go nowhere.”

She told parents that they were the “foundation and trust” of the nation.

Lau said PNG needed young people with the drive and a better education to move the nation forward.

“Our children are the future leaders; they have to learn now how to be great leaders,” said Lau.

She said building the nation required efforts from everyone.

“You have to be open-minded, and ready to accept change.”
