Work on bridge will start upon funds’ release

The National, Wednesday, April 27, 2011

I REFER to two letters published in The National on April 11 and 13 by “Balikoc Ngandu” and Lawrence Mindung about the Buso bridge and the Boana to Lae road respectively.
Everything relating to the construction of the bridge has been finalised and approved.
We are now awaiting the release of K14 million earmarked by the national government for the bridge from National Planning office.
Upon the release of these funds, the contractor will begin work.
The Boana road, like all rural roads in Nawaeb district, is subject to the weather.
This situation is, unfortunately, the norm due to the high rainfall throughout the year.
The continual maintenance of these roads is a priority of the Nawaeb district administration.
Due to the late receipt of our DSIP funds, work has not started this year.
Please do not hesitate to contact me on 7275 7992 if you have further queries.
