Work on highway underway

A severely damaged section of the Madang-Ramu highway is undergoing major reconstruction initiated by the country’s nickel/cobalt mine developer, the Ramu NiCo Management.
This vital transportation road link experienced a landslip four years ago leaving just a narrow path for vehicles.
According to Ramu NiCo’ community affairs officer Robon Lani, the company has deployed most of its machinery to fix this road as well as engaging local youths as extra help.
The road work begun in Feb and is expected to be completed in May.
