Work starts on city road

THE road from the PNG University of Technology (Unitech) gate to Tent Siti Police Barracks and Telikom College road junction in Lae, Morobe, is being stabilised before surfacing.
The pavement stabilisation work means access to the main road will be restricted.
JVPNG Investment Constructions Ltd project manager Francis Martin said the use of bypasses and alternative routes indicated in the traffic management plan would come into force.
Martin said the road was now closed until next Feb 11.
He said access would be restricted to light vehicles, including PMV buses, and residents, along the stretch to Igam Barracks.
Heavy vehicles were urged to use the Back Road towards Malahang-Hunter and China Town into town and the main wharf.
