Work to start on new rural hospital: MP

Construction will soon begin for a new rural hospital for Morobe’s Kabwum at a cost of K3 million after a resolution was passed for the hospital by the district development authority (DDA).
Of the K5 million, 10 pre cent will go towards project management, 55 per cent towards project procurement, mobilisation, etc…, 30 per cent for construction, labour and others and 5 per cent for other costs which may occur.
Kabwum MP and DDA chairman Patrick Basa said contracts would be given to locals through bids.
He said all material would be provided by the district while the contractors will only provide labour.
Meanwhile, Basa said all local level governments in the district must have a secondary school as many of their children faced problems travelling to other districts to go to school.
“We will also look programmes to support women next year,” he added.
Basa said in the next DDA meeting, they will present reports on spending, projects and other things in the district for the previous year and will also present the 2020 budget for the district.
