Couples told of three concepts for happy life

THE secret of a successful marriage can be boiled down to three simple concepts, a priest says.
St Martin’s and Mary Queen of Peace parish priest Fr Mark Misiwasi said the three key concepts of a successful marriage were permission, thanks and forgiveness.
He said this during a combined wedding ceremony for five couples at St Martin’s parish in Lae on Saturday.
“Ask permission. ‘Please, may I?’ We must learn to ask. We take this initiative and then we bring our children up like this,” Misiwasi said.
“In short, to ask for agreement is to enter the lives of others with courtesy.
“Keep this in mind, to enter the lives of others with courtesy.”
He told the couples to always give thanks as it was easy to say the word but not to show gratitude in their actions. Misiwasi said gratitude was an important quality and it was necessary to know how to say thank you in order to get along in married life.
“We must always ask for forgiveness.
“In life, we make so many mistakes and we learn to recognise our mistakes and apologise.
“If I talked too much without ever listening, I must say sorry.”
