Workshop held to enhance skills for military technicians

A WORKSHOP is currently underway in Port Moresby to enhance skills of military technicians in the Asia and Pacific region.
The two-week programme, sponsored by the US Indo–Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) and co-hosted by the Papua New Guinea Defence Force (PNGDF) opened in Port Moresby yesterday.
USINDOPACOM chief of cyber and engagements Col Aaron Osborn said the programme would enhance skills of military technicians of Asia–Pacific region.
Participants include military officers from 22 nations in the region.
“The training exercises that we have planned will not only show case what has been done, but also to showcase the programme dedication for multilateral and multinational communication, a data will be transferred onto radio frequency and shared over a number of platforms,” Osborn said.
He said the senior members from each country attending the programme this week would prepare and present their concept and ideas to the senior communicators who would arrive next week.
PNGDF Commander Brigadier General Gilbert Toropo, in welcoming the participating countries, said the exercise was not only informative but an opportunity to strengthen the country’s military networks with other nations.
