Workshop to gauge athletes’ performance

ELITE athletes will put their heads together on Sunday for a post-mortem on the Pacific Mini Games held in September.
The Papua New Guinea (PNG) Athletics Commission (AC) chaired by Andrew Lepani has organised a workshop for all elite athletes to address issues affecting them in their representative duties.
The workshop will be held at the Ela Beach Hotel, starting at 8.30am.
Lepani said: “Athletes come first, and they must be able to air their concerns on issues that affect them.
“In doing so they are better prepared to face the challenges they have ahead and be better role models for the community and country as a whole.”
Also on the agenda is HIV/AIDS and athletes will be asked to complete a survey form aimed at gauging their knowledge of the epidemic.
This survey which began at the PNG Games is the largest survey ever conducted in PNG and it is aimed at collecting baseline data on HIV and AIDS behavioural trends.
All national federations are encouraged to submit the names of elite athletes to attend this forum.
They should contact John D’Siguria on [email protected] or Thoa Mega on [email protected]  or on telephone 325 1411/1449 or 323 0114.
