THE World Vision’s Anis Foundation Incorporation (AFI) is attracting community participation in its programmes to promote peace in Lae’s urban suburbs, AFI livelihood coordinator Andrew Baine says.
“Two female and four male volunteers from West and East Taraka, Bundi Camp and Boundary Road are helping to rope in community support,” he said.
“They organise youths, communities and leaders for awareness.
“We covered West Taraka last Sunday, East Taraka and Bundi Camp on Monday.
“We were supposed to cover Boundary Road the next day when I succumbed to malaria that’s why could not carry on with the awareness.”
He said the volunteers were informed to continue the work with youths and collect more names up to the required number (40 to 20 men and 20 women).
Baine said the final awareness at Boundary Road was conducted over the weekend by the team.
Lae Urban local level government lord mayor James Khay said he was satisfied with how the project was taking shape.
He urged youths to participate in the project.
