THE Kerowagi Development Authority (DDA) in Chimbu has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Youth Development Authority (NYDA) to address issues associated with youths in the district.
According to NYDA, it is to mobilise and strengthen the youth network down to the local level government level.
The district youth development council will be established and all youths registered in the district youth data base. MP Bari Palma said youths resorting to illagal practices to earn a living would be a thing of the past.
He said he was willing to manage and address the challenges and make the district a better place.
Palma said youths who dropped out of school and others who hadn’t been to school become frustrated that they were not benefiting from development, and when they were being neglected.
He said empowerment programmes and skills training would be rolled out in partnership with all stakeholders.
“It is important to tame the mind set of youths today and guide them in the right pathway to contribute to nation building,” Palma said.
