Yipmaramba move senseless

Letters, Normal

I REFER to the report where Central administrator Raphael Yipmaramba called on NCD cholera task force leader Dr Timothy Pyakalyia to refrain from reporting any cholera cases in the province (The National, June 16).
He claimed what was reported in the media by Pyakalyia were misleading, biased and incorrect.
Mr Administrator, with the current cholera situation in Abau, data collection is difficult because of the movement of people.
There is an influx of people who may have contracted cholera are moving to NCD for proper healthcare services instead of seeking aid from the Kupiano health centre.
When this happens, surveillance officers may not be able to gather these data and provide realistic information.
These data will only be available in NCD through its surveillance officers.
To provide accurate information to the media, I suggest the two task force work in partnership by treating this as a shared responsibility.
