YOUTHS in Lae who are to be involved in the neighbourhood watch programme have conducted awareness in the city for residents to celebrate the festive season peacefully.
Yesterday, a large group of youths conducted awareness at main centers of Eriku and Town to advise Lae residents to celebrate festive season in a peaceful manner.
Lae law and order team leader Sam Oyaya highlighted that the awareness was done to inform and educate the public in Lae to observe Christmas in a true Christian way.
“About 300 youths in Lae will be involved in the neighbourhood watch programme to keep the city safe and peaceful, however, everyone’s effort is needed to make this happen,” he said.
“Excessive alcohol consumption is uncalled for at this time as you might get yourself in trouble. You must behave in an ethical manner and avoid getting involved in illegal activities as you might end up in jail.”
Oyaya described Christmas as a time of peace and reflection and urged the city residents to celebrate responsibly with their families and relatives at home to avoid problems.
