OVER one hundred young people received the sacrament of confirmation, six adults were baptised and 11 received their first holy communion during a church celebration in East New Britain over the weekend.
On Sunday, a Catholic parish in Rabaul celebrated its first anniversary at Vunabosco.
During the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, Archbishop Fr Francisco Panfilo reminded the community to thank the Lord for the great gifts they received daily.
“Thank the Lord for the gift of life, the sacraments, friendship and faith,” he said.
In highlighting the life of St John Bosco, he reminded the Christians that Don Bosco struggled during his life.
He faced challenges but never gave up.
Archbishop Panfilo told parishioners that he was celebrating his 56th anniversary of Salesian life.
He challenged young people attending the mass to always ask the Lord: “What do you want from me?” as they journeyed in their life.
He said he brought the Salesians to East New Britain and that his heart was attached to the people of Rabaul.
The parish priest and rector Fr Moise Paluku thanked Archbishop Panfilo for his commitment to the people in the diocese, especially for the gift of the Parish Mary Help of Christians.
