THE National Sports Institute (NSI) in Goroka will stage a feast of rugby league matches beginning tomorrow.
They are the national zone trials to select a side to play a bemobile Cup XIII while NSI will also host the round 13 bemobile Cup game between Bintangor Lahanis and Kongo Coffee Simbu Warriors.
A highlands zone side picked following a three-day tournament in Kundiawa last month have camped in north Goroka for a week now. They are preparing to take other regions in the trial that begins tomorrow .
The highlands zone side was a tough one to pick as there were many stand out performances at  Dickson’s rugby league ground during the highlands zone trials last week.
According to highlands chairman of  selectors David Noifa, the display put on by the teams from this region was extremely encouraging showing that there  was an abundance of players from the rural associations who are good enough to play top level rugby league.
He said 12 teams from Tari, Mendi, Porgera, Wabag, Pangia, Mt Hagen, Kindeng, Baning, Banz, Fatima, Kundiawa and Goroka participated in the Kundiawa trial.
Southern region has been weakened by the exclusion of their Port Moresby-based players while Northern and New Guinea Islands have named strong sides.
