THE latest class of Papua New Guinean pilots studying to get their wings in Coffs Harbour, Australia, are well on their path to becoming commercial airline pilots.
Once they complete their training, the 10 scholarship winners will be ready to take over the controls in the cockpits of Dash-8 aircraft, flying with Air Niugini.
The training programme is run by Professional Pilot Training at the Coffs Harbour Regional Airport in New South Wales.
Chief flying instructor Robert Loretan said the training began in May and they should graduate next September.
“Once they are trained, the students will receive multi-engine commercial pilot licences and will return to PNG to command aircraft instruments as first officers on board Air Niugini flights,” Loretan said. – The Advocate
