THE incomplete casino building at 4-Mile in Port Moresby has become a place of criminal activities, a magistrate says.
Magistrate Cosmas Bidar was speaking during a rape case in the Waigani Committal Court, in Port Moresby, yesterday. In court was George Pakoi, from Port Moresby, who was charged with two counts of rape of a 14-year-old girl.
The court was told that Pakoi was a student at Mapex Education Institute when he committed the offence. Police alleged that on July 15 and July 19 at the incomplete casino building, Pakoi was engaged in sexual activities with the minor.
He was charged with two counts of sexual penetration of a minor and made a verbal application for bail. The court refused his application and instructed him to make a proper bail application to the court with two guarantors provided.
The court said it could not grant the bail application because he did not have a permanent residential.
Prosecution said he should pay K500 for each charge if he wished to apply for bail.
Magistrate Bidar adjourned the case to Aug 30.
