2,200 students to graduate from Unitech, UPNG

 MORE than 2,200 students will graduate from the country’s two premier universities today.

The University of PNG in Port Moresby will confer degrees and diplomas on 1,201 students while the PNG University of Technology in Lae will do likewise for 1,047 students.

UPNG’s 58th graduation will again have two sessions – the morning session for the School of Law, School of Natural and Physical Sciences, and School of Medicine and Health Science and the afternoon session for the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and Business Administration.

The largest number of graduates will come from Business Administration with 358 followed by the School of Medicine and Health Science with 263, School of Humanities and Social Sciences with 237, School of Natural and Physical Sciences with 187 and School of Law with 105. A further 51 will receive their masters degrees in medicine (29) and business administration (22).

Meanwhile, Unitech will set a new record when its 1,047 students receive their degrees and diplomas today. 

A total of 534 students will receive degrees and 356 with diplomas. 

Among them will be 23 who will receive their masters degrees, including the university’s Master of Philosophy in geomatics. 

Unitech said in a statement yesterday that there would be no doctorates conferred this year.

It added that 26 nurses from the Lae Nursing College, which came under the umbrella of the university recently, would also graduate.

The university said five Solomon Island students and one from Sri Lanka would be among the graduates today.
