TWO teenage girls were raped by several masked men armed with homemade guns and bush knives and their parents were robbed last Sunday, police reported.

Central police commander Heni Vagi said the suspects had stormed a teacher’s house and attacked her daughters at a school in the Abau district.

“The suspects robbed the teacher before attacking her daughters,” Vagi said.

The girls were aged 15 and 16.

Vagi said the teacher lost goods valued at K11,000.

“The suspects stole a lap top, a printer, a solar panel, a solar battery, garden tools and school material,” he said.

He added that the matter was reported to the police officers at Moreguina government station.

“Our police officers have attended to the scene of the incident and have collected reports from the victims,” Vagi said.

He said the girls received medical treatment at the Moreguina health centre.

Vagi appealed to people in Central to respect and look after public servants serving in their communities.

He said public servants, such as teachers, delivered vital government services to serve the rural communities.

“People should take responsibility to look after our public servants. To attack a teacher, rob her and sexually penetrate her teenage daughters is showing people’s lack of respect for our public servants,” Vagi said.

He said the education of children at the school would be affected following the incident.
